Preliminary Task: Final Result
Above is the final result of our preliminary task. Although short, it does clearly show that we are capable of creating a piece with the equipment and software provided.
We found that this preliminary task was easier because we have previously completed a preliminary task and project. This has meant that we have had a lot of experience with the camera, and other equipment. Through class we also learnt a lot about effective camera angles and how to use them. For example, the 180 degree rule used in a conversation, or in the above task where we used it for a game of rock, paper, scissors. All this along with some of our own knowledge has made making our film a lot easier and quicker to complete. Hopefully this same knowledge and experience will also help us during the main thriller project.

Preliminary Task: Storyboard & Shot List
Storyboards and shot lists are incredibly important. They give a step by step guide for the filming process, and help any errors to be shorted out before filming. They are also helpful if someone is ill on a day of filming, this means that any other person is able to follow these two records to film/director the piece.
First you can see our shot lit with description of the type of shot and the action taking place in it. Then we have the storyboard with hand-drawn images to assist the ideas behind the filming.

Preliminary Task: Introduction
As with our previous project we are required to do a preliminary task. This will show match on action, shot reverse shot, long shot, close up and 180 rule. It is crucial that we pass this task in order to proceed with the main thriller project.
This week we have planned the storyboard, written a shot list, filmed and edited the for the task. As with before we will be using this blog to document all of our research and development through the main project.
The main storyboard of this preliminary task can be seen on our storyboard. The basic narrative is that character 1 is walking to the toilets, we used a establishing shot, close up and match on action of the door opening. Character 1 meets character 2 there. We used the 180 rule to show a game of rock, paper, scissors, with the final shot being a reaction shot of the losing character (2). This is a very basic narrative and order of shots, but you will that are end result effectively shows that we are capable of using the equipment and variety of shots.
During editing we made sure that the shots all flowed together in continuity. We also added sound to the piece, to assist the illustration.
