Preliminary Task: Introduction

As with our previous project we are required to do a preliminary task. This will show match on action, shot reverse shot, long shot, close up and 180 rule. It is crucial that we pass this task in order to proceed with the main thriller project.

This week we have planned the storyboard, written a shot list, filmed and edited the for the task. As with before we will be using this blog to document all of our research and development through the main project.

The main storyboard of this preliminary task can be seen on our storyboard. The basic narrative is that character 1 is walking to the toilets, we used a establishing shot, close up and match on action of the door opening. Character 1 meets character 2 there. We used the 180 rule to show a game of rock, paper, scissors, with the final shot being a reaction shot of the losing character (2). This is a very basic narrative and order of shots, but you will that are end result effectively shows that we are capable of using the equipment and variety of shots.

During editing we made sure that the shots all flowed together in continuity. We also added sound to the piece, to assist the illustration.
